Sweet music for IPC’s Uncut
IPC Magazine’s monthly music title Uncut has reversed its decline to post a rise in average net circulation of six per cent, according to latest ABC figures.
The title pushed its circulation back over 90,000 to 91,028 for the period to end of December 2007. This compares to an 8.3 per cent drop in the previous period. The once Emap, now Bauer Consumer Media rival rock monthly Mojo fell 5.2 per cent to 106,218.
However, IPC weekly NME has seen circulation continue to fall despite a radical overhaul in July last year to include more reader interaction and more photography. The publication saw circulation decline six per cent to 64,033 and recorded a year on year fall of 12.3 per cent.
Illustrating that weekly music magazines are falling out of favour the rock weekly Kerrang! saw its circulation drop by the bigger figure of eight per cent period on period. However, it’s stayed ahead of NME with a circulation of 76,937.
The Future Publishing heavy rock titles Metal Hammer and Rock Sound both saw recent gains fall away as they saw a circulation drop respectively of 6.8 per cent and one per cent to 45,809 and 23,021.
