Music MagazinesMusic weekly NME’s relaunch in early July has come at the right time to revive the title’s fortunes as it posted a drop of 6.7 per cent in circulation in the latest ABC results.

Metal/rock title Kerrang! continued to consolidate its position as the leading music weekly, with an average net circulation of 83,610, although it dropped 2.1 per cent on last period.

IPC’s NME, now with a circulation of 68,151 and down 8.2 per cent year on year, carried out a promotion in June which saw it give away a White Stripes red vinyl single and helped boost circulation significantly during the month. Its latest redesign has seen more interactive elements introduced to help combat the plethora of music sites delivering news and comment on the internet.

Overall music titles saw a 3.1 per cent fall period on period. Among the music monthlies, Emap’s Q saw a fall in circulation of 7.2 per cent to 130,179. This has been attributed to the dropping of CD cover mounts. IPC’s Uncut fell 8.3 per cent to 85,884 and is down 3.2 per cent year on year but Emap’s Mojo held up slightly better with a 1.9 per cent drop to 112,037.

Development Hell’s Word, in which Guardian Media Group has a stake, saw a 3.6 per cent rise to 34,816.

Future Publishing's niche rock titles Metal Hammer and Rock Sound continued to show slight growth, up 0.3 per cent and one per cent respectively to 49,143 and 23,260.
