ShortlistShortList is on track to meet its promised circulation figure of 500,000 in its first 12 months, following the unveiling of its first ABC figure today of 462,731.

The free magazine, distributed on Thursday mornings and aimed at ABC1 men, was launched last September and aims to hit 500,000 by the summer.

Its freesheet rival, Sport, is delivered on Friday mornings and posted its second ABC today with an average net circulation of 317,209 with a zero per cent change period-on-period.

Mike Soutar, chief executive of ShortList, said: “We are very pleased and it’s a great figure. I’m delighted because we’ve all worked very hard, we’ve done something that no body has tried to do before and doing that is always a huge risk. We’ve proved there is a market out there and this has given us a great platform to build on.”

Earlier this week, ShortList revealed it would expand its distribution into Liverpool within the next six months as it looks to establish a foothold in new UK cities.

The freesheet currently distributes in London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Sport currently only distributes in London, although publishing director Greg Miall has not ruled out increasing its distribution over the next year.

Meanwhile, Dare, which is to be relaunched as a freesheet for women across the UK, did not submit an ABC figure today.

Dare will increase its print run to 750,000 with copies and will continue to be distributed in Superdrug stores as well as on the city streets of London, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. The move marks the first freesheet entrant into the women’s monthly sector.
